This project included the removal of an existing 40 m wide control structure/ bridge and associated wing walls 40 km southwest of Swift Current, SK. A new control structure/bridge, complete with five motorized radial gates, was constructed. A separate control building was constructed to house the mechanical and electrical controls. In order to remove and reinstall the control structure, an earth cofferdam was installed to stop the flow of water. Water was diverted through an existing riparian outlet. The site was dewatered using wells. Sheet piles where installed ahead of the new approach slab to prevent undermining of the structure. Two meters of soil cement was installed under the 800 mm approach slab. The bridge deck consisted of precast box girders.
