Westridge is currently seeking a Safety Coordinator to help strengthen and support our positive safety culture within the construction industry. This is a dynamic opportunity offering strong potential for continued professional growth and long-term development in the field of occupational health and safety.

As a key part of our commitment to creating safe, respectful, and productive work environments, the successful candidate will help uphold and reinforce our positive safety culture. This role requires someone who is proactive, organized, and people-oriented, with a passion for supporting others and promoting safe work practices at all levels of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform site-specific safety orientations for new workers, visitors, and subcontractors
  • Conduct regular worksite inspections and audits to identify and address potential hazards
  • Maintain health and safety boards with current emergency contacts, inspection records, and legislative updates
  • Track and verify worker training, certifications, and competency records (e.g., Fall Protection, SCOT, WHMIS)
  • Collect, organize, and maintain HSE-related documentation (e.g., toolbox talks, inspections, incident reports)
  • Support the Occupational Health Committee (OHC) and assist in fulfilling meeting and inspection requirements
  • Follow up on corrective actions from inspections, incident investigations, and committee meetings
  • Respond promptly to worker safety concerns or complaints and escalate as needed
  • Assist in incident investigations and documentation, including near misses and unsafe conditions
  • Support the administration of the Return-to-Work/Modified Duties Program
  • Record and distribute minutes from safety meetings and toolbox talks
  • Participate in or lead field-level hazard assessments (FLHAs) and job hazard analyses (JHAs)
  • Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of safe work practices and procedures
  • Promote safety culture by modeling and reinforcing safe work practices
  • Perform other HSE-related duties as assigned by the Senior HS&E Coordinator or Safety Manager


Required Qualifications

  • Actively working towards or completion of a health and safety designation (NHSA, NCSO, CRST, or CRSP)
  • Knowledge of Saskatchewan OH&S legislation and construction-related regulations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with safety apps or digital forms is an asset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with trades and supervisors
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain organized, accurate safety records
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract
  • Physically able to walk large sites, climb stairs/ladders, and work outdoors in variable weather
