Position: Survey Technician

Job Description: As a Survey Technician at Westridge, you will play a crucial role in our construction projects. Reporting directly to the General Superintendent, you will be responsible for various tasks including:

  • Work with field staff to lay out grade beams, concrete walls, piles and other concrete structures using a robotic total station.
  • Use various software to build point files and layout drawings that incorporate necessary changes and shop drawings by subcontractors.
  • Work with subcontractors and the project team to provide support and layout for earthwork and underground utilities using GNSS systems to ensure the design is brought to life efficiently and accurately.
  • Perform quantity calculations on stockpiles and work fronts that require verification of material quantities.
  • Record and provide various as-built datasets throughout the construction process to the clients and consultants.
  • Assist with boundary surveys and legal descriptions.
  • Calculate quantities and verify completed work against specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Previous carpentry experience.
  • Proficiency in operating survey equipment including total stations. (Training will be provided for equipment and software’s used).
  • Knowledge of building processes and traditional layout methods.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency required.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Blueprint reading and drafting an asset.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license.
