This bridge project is part of the Regina West Bypass plan and is built over Highway #1 and located 2 km west of Regina. It is a 3 lane 92 m long bridge with one center pier over a four lane divided highway. Deck includes 6 – 1.5 m deep steel plate girders, 200 mm poured in place concrete deck, concrete barriers, abutments and 100 mm poured in place concrete slope protection. Traffic control was provided by Westridge which included signage and an electronic board to reduce traffic speed down from 110 km to 60 km. Work was coordinated with other contracts being done by the Ministry of Highways which included the steel girder erection and roadway paving. The Ministry supplied materials such as reinforcing steel, cement powder and silica fume for our concrete supplier, miscellaneous metals and bridge coating materials. While working over a busy highway, traffic lanes needed to be closed and reopened on a daily basis. Good methods and procedures for traffic control included providing proper training to the workers.
